Starfall Hard Zone – in playtest
[In Playtest]
The sky was full of stars that day of arrival. Panic led to war. Burning ships. Fading dreams. Purple rain followed, reshaping bits of the world. Strange plants and creatures roaming between scattered towns. And now, here we are in our town fending off raiders and star weevils while remnants of Earth’s government try to take away our town–our home. I’ll take my chances with the humans and other stellar emigrants, thank you much, jah’la-tuk.
Starfall is a Hard Zone expansion about a community fighting for survival and sovereignty on a post-war xenoformed Earth, for the Apocalypse World: Burned Over roleplaying game by Mequey Baker and D. Vincent Baker.
It’s been nearly two decades since the aliens arrived and xenoformed a large part of the planet during what survivors called the War of Stars. Earth-based governments fell and their nations collapsed under the struggle. This gave rise to a new world with about a dozen or so remaining splintered frontier communities. Each community banded together the ruins of Earth with alien tech, fractured cultures, and exotic lifeforms predominant in their part of the planet. Each town works to survive and control their lives, while some planetary factions push for greater influence in the world that is to become something worthy of the sacrifices or destinies foretold.
You live in one such community. It’s centered around a town famous for a desired valuable resource and a variety of threats. These threats are within and beyond from before the War of Stars and lingering alliances maintained since. In addition to this, your town faces interference from the factions who want a say in the future of your resources and way of life.
Starfall currently includes:
- 10 heritage options with setting prompts
- 8 locations with suggestions
- 2 exterior factions with questions
- 1 touchstones optional rule
- 1 pregen territory map template
- 1 pregen town map template
More options may be in the works if there is support.
