Projects under Consideration

Here’s where I’m coming from in terms of game design projects from the big picture to the ground level.

So Many Games, so Little Time

Here’s my breakdown in numbers for game designs I’ve given time and energy to.

55 Total Games

The number of games may seem like a lot if you’re new to designing. Some are simple hacks or games submitted for contests and the like and doing so is helpful for me. My experience and from talking to others in the industry is you have to practice making bad things before you can begin to intentionally make good ones.

40 Games Removed

For reasons, the following games are not included in what to work on now.

-2 Layout and information discussion, later published by another designer
-2 Content only, later published by other designers
-1 Design I am stepping back from leading but may contribute
-14 IP-based that can’t be sold (may still post)
-2 Stopped (of the remaining)
-15 On Hold (of the remaining)
-1 Published online for sale (NetWhere)
-3 Done but are not published (may still publish)

15 Games Remain

These games in development (of the remaining) could be sold, and are likely to be the main focus of work towards completion. I’ll always have new and returning game designs, though my intent is to improve progress on these games in particular. Should I have a stronger foundation to ensure this happens? Yes, and I’ll write about that in a future post. For now, here’s my list, organized by system.

1 Belonging Outside Belonging + PbtA: Legends of the Realm
2 Descended from the Queen: Time & Tempus, For the Con
1 Dresden Files Accelerated: Armageddon Accelerated (note: I am considering doing a translation to FitD for this game as well if there is interest)
1 Firebrands: Flames of the Rebellion
4 Other System: Along the Road, Dark Well, Love & Rockets, Vigilance
1 Psi*Run: NightMirror
1 Paragon: Eye of the Magi
1 Powered by the Apocalypse: Starfall Hard Zone
3 Primed by Cortex: Aethernity, Found, Space Station Omega

Next Steps

I will focus on prioritizing and breaking down these game design projects into smaller ideas to address and I’ll also talk about some tools I use. I may even include infographics, but no guarantees.
