Playtesting vs Reality

Illustration: “Path Sketch,” David MK.

As in all endeavors, the path to progress is more often a squiggle than a straight line. In scheduling games, especially for playtesting, real life seems to dash the path, creating the jagged gaps. It’s part of the process. Accepting and adapting this as the way forward is how I plan to manage the creative work.

Additionally, I’m fortunate to have players who are both understanding and willing to adjust and try again with me. Thank you for your kindness.

My List

2. Starfall Hard Zone [4]
3. Eye of the Magi [5]
4. Time & Tempus [5]
5. Legends of the Realm [6]
6. For the Panel [7]

Scheduled for Playtesting

2. Starfall Hard Zone for Apocalypse World: Burned Over

I did need to postpone the sessions by a week but have enough players to proceed, starting this week.

4. Time and Tempus

I did have to cancel the playtest for Time & Tempus. Once an upcoming work schedule adjustment in a couple of weeks happens I’ll be able to schedule playtesting again.

In-Progress, or Back Burner

3. Eye of the Magi

Work on this continues in content creation and overall editing. I’m looking forward to fleshing out the pick lists for quick world generation.

5. Legends of the Realm

Back Burner – needs revisions. I’m eyeing the possibility of playtesting this game around November.

6. For the Panel

Back burner – needs revisions.

Next Steps

Get through the next couple of weeks and enjoy the experience.
